Atlanta punk trio The Carolyn return with their first new music in over a year, dropping the raw and reflective single “75mg Prologue.” Known for their emotionally charged songwriting and driving melodies, the band once again taps into the anxious undercurrent of modern life—this time with a track that’s as confessional as it is cathartic.

According to the band, “75mg Prologue” was written during a transitional time: between jobs, battling mounting medical debt, and trapped in the cycle of their own decisions. “It’s sort of about feeling trapped by your own bad decisions yet feeling unmotivated to do anything about it,” they shared. That sense of helplessness is laced throughout the song’s lyrics and carried by a gritty, propulsive rhythm section that refuses to let up.

Engineered and mixed by Peter Catalano in Roswell, Georgia, and mastered by Jason Livermore at the legendary Blasting Room, the track sounds polished yet punchy—just the right balance for a band that thrives on emotional vulnerability and punk sensibility.

The release of “75mg Prologue” sets the tone for a big year ahead. The Carolyn are slated to appear at Manchester Punk Festival and Pouzza Fest this spring, with plans to finish up a new record expected this fall. If this single is any indication, the next chapter of The Carolyn will be just as honest, urgent, and relatable as ever.
